DAY 1 Canada - Dubrovnik
Depart for Dubrovnik.
DAY 2 Arrive in Dubrovnik
Upon arrival in Dubrovnik, transfer to the hotel. Free at leisure this afternoon. This magnificent Old Town, with its treasure of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque churches, monasteries, and palaces is designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
DAY 3 Dubrovnik(B/L)
In the morning, tour Old Dubrovnik on foot. During the walking tour, visit the Rector’s Palace, an outstanding blend of Gothic and Renaissance architecture and view the monumental Sponza Palace, one of the most beautiful palaces in the city, preserved in its original form. Under the City Bell Tower view Orlando’s Tower, dedicated to the legendary Knight that saved the city in the 9th century. Then on to view the Dominican Monastery and Franciscan Monastery with its Pharmacy. Visit the Pharmacy, one of the oldest in the world still in use today. Enjoy your lunch in Old port and the rest of the day is at leisure. Perhaps spend time strolling along the impressive ramparts overlooking the shimmering Adriatic Sea, or visit the Maritime Museum in St. John’s Castle. Don’t miss tonight’s optional sunset cruise around the Old City walls to St. Jakov Beach followed by a traditional Croatian dinner with Dalmatian wine along with spectacular views of the night-lit city (EUR€89).
DAY 4 Dubrovnik - Mostar (B/D)
Today board a comfortable coach and enjoy the countryside as the bus makes its way across the border to Bosnia. Once in Mostar, follow your tour guide to explore the city, perhaps admiring the famous arched bridge and visiting the Old Bazaar alongside historical mosques and the Turkish House. Enjoy your dinner and have a good rest.
DAY 5 Mostar - Split (B)
This morning, visit the Tekija - Islamic Dervish monastery from the 16th century, situated at the side of a cliff, next to the source of the river Buna. Then Visit Počitelj, a beautiful historical site sitting along the river Neretva. Stroll around this little ancient town and see breathtaking view from the fortress, searching ottoman buildings on top of a hill, browsing the souvenir boutique. After enjoying an optional local Bosnia three-course lunch, travel to the UNESCO protected the seaside town of Split, the second-largest city in Croatia.
DAY 6 Split (B)
This morning, enjoy a walking tour along the cobbled streets of the Old Town features the historic inner city with its dominating Roman influence, built around the 4th century Palace of Diocletian. This spectacular palace, a precious example of Roman architecture, is one of the largest and best-preserved in the world. See the remains of the Cathedral of St. Domnius built in the Middle Ages, and the Temple of Jupiter with its headless black sphinx guarding the entrance. In the evening, you may join an Optional Experience to enjoy traditional Dalmatian Dinner(EURO€$55). Dalmatian cuisine, a dinner in a traditional stone basement ‘konoba’ is the best choice. You’ll select from a variety of seafood or meats accompanied by Dalmatian wines and typical live music, which will add a traditional touch to the end of your journey on the Croatian Adriatic coastline.
DAY 7 Split - Trogir - Plitvice Lakes (B)
Travel north to historic Trogir, founded by the Greeks in 400 BC. Here, admire the three-naved 13th century Venetian Cathedral of St. Lovro, one of the finest architectural works in Croatia, and the stunning Cipiko Palace. A center of artistic activities, scholars came from around the world to Trogir to study and paint. Continue inland towards Plitvice Lakes National Park, a wonderland of 16 interconnecting lakes. Within the boundaries of this heavily forested national park, 16 crystalline lakes tumble into each other via a series of waterfalls and cascades. This area is celebrated as one of the most beautiful natural sights in Europe, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
DAY 8 Plitvice Lakes - Zagreb (B)
Today you will visit one of Croatia’s most beautiful sites – Plitvice Lakes National Park. The park was given World Heritage status 20 years ago and is 19 hectares of wooded hills that surround 16 stunning turquoise lakes, all connected by a series of waterfalls. Here you will join a guided walking tour along the wooden pathways suspended over pristine natural landscapes. Admire the cascade of spectacular waterfalls and crystal-clear waters reflecting green, grey and blue against the lush landscapes. Look to the canopy for over 120 species of birds, including hawks and owls. Enjoy an optional traditional Croatia meal. After your memorable visit to the lakes, drive to Croatia’s capital, Zagreb.
DAY 9 Zagreb (B)
Begin the day in busy Kaptol Square in Upper Town, dominated by the monumental Zagreb Cathedral, with its soaring twin spires, its cobblestone streets, and red tile-roofed buildings. Walk along Kravi Most, to St. Mark’s Church with its brightly colored roof and the 17th century Jesuit Church of St. Catherine. After a stop at the Parliament building, free time to explore the winding streets of the Old Town and Ban Jelacic, the main square. Or leisurely stroll along Ilica Street, packed with restaurants, trendy cafes and a vibrant shopping scene. Enjoy an optional typical dinner at a local restaurant.
DAY 10 Zagreb - Ljubljana - Bled (B/D)
Embark on an orientation tour of Ljubljana this morning, admiring its Old Town, bridges and Castle. Today highlight is the visit of the Postojna Cave – World Heritage Site Tour. The Postojna Cave - a subterranean wonderland of karst tunnels, caverns, and galleries, adorned with dramatic stalagmites and stalactites - is one of Slovenia’s most remarkable natural wonders and among the country’s most visited tourist attractions. Travel aboard the specially designed cave train with electric lighting that allows you to observe the splendor of the underground world, where the geological past is recorded uniquely. You’ll be dazzled by the stalactites and stalagmites in a variety of shapes, and colors. Afterward continue to Bled, exquisitely set amidst the Julian Alps, for dinner and overnight.
DAY 11 Bled (B)
With its emerald-green lake, a medieval castle clinging to a rocky cliff and some of the highest peaks of the Julian Alps, Bled is Slovenia’s most popular resort.
The tour begins at the imposing 11th century Bled Castle, the oldest in Slovenia, perched on a cliff high above the lake, creating a dramatic backdrop to the city. Enjoy an optional cruise tour of Lake Bled (EURO€45). You may take the unique Pletna boat ride (a wooden, awning-covered boat rowed by a special oarsman) to the island on Lake Bled – climb up the 99 steps to St Mary’s Church and ring the wishing bell. You’ll have some free time to enjoy the magnificent views of the island. Tonight, join an optional dinner at a traditional Country Inn in the tiny medieval town of Radovljica that includes choices of Slovenian favorites along with wine (EURO€69, min 10pax).
DAY12 Bled- Venice (B)
Transfer to Venice and visit Trieste en route. Visit Miramare Castle on the peak of a rocky promontory along the Gulf of Trieste. Continue to Venice with time to begin your exploration of this astonishing city on your own. Later, join the optional Grand Canal Cruise(EURO€69, min 10pax) that takes you through the heart of the city on a one-hour boat ride. Tonight, satisfy yourself at one of the city’s fine restaurants, or just sip a cappuccino or a lovely glass of Italian wine at an outdoor.
DAY13 Venice - Canada (B)
This morning, transfer to the airport and fly back to Canada.
